September 24 – 30: Mike Steenhoek, Executive Director of the Soy Transportation Coalition, talks about the importance of strong infrastructure as farmers harvest their crops and it begins making its way from the farm to its final destination. He shares the work the soybean checkoff is doing to improve the bottom line for famers and ensure the U.S. remains competitive.
September 17 – 23: Shelby Watson, a director for the U.S. Poultry and Eggs Export Council, serves as the liaison between USAPEEC and the soybean checkoff. The poultry industry is the largest user of soybean meal among livestock groups, accounting for 60 percent of all soybean meal produced in the U.S.
September 10 – 16: Dr. Sarah Lancaster is an Assistant Professor and Weed Extension Specialist at K-State and serves on the Kansas Soybean Association’s board . The Kansas Soybean Yield and Value Contest is open for producers to enter and Dr. Lancaster talks about how they can enter and the benefits farmers get out of participating in the contests.
September 3 – 9: Raylen Phelon, Kansas Soybean commissioner from Melvern, serves as Vice-Chairman of the Kansas Soybean Commission. He talks about the Soy in Family and Consumer Sciences program. He shares why it matters that farmers are connecting with classrooms, using soy in the classroom and more.
August 27 – September 2: Laci Kirchhoff talks about the projects completed during her summer internship and the value they brought to Kansas soybean farmers.
