Soybeans to Soy Aquaculture

Published

Did you know your Kansas-grown soybeans could end up being food for aquaculture?

Egypt as well as other countries feed their aquaculture a ration with soybean meal. This market can sometimes be overlooked but is vitally important as part of the demand for U.S. soy.

At the Soy Aquaculture Alliance meeting in early December, John Wray indulged in learning about how the industry is changing and what challenges it faces.

Jesse Chappell presented a production project on integrated recirculating water systems. This project is designed for the domestic producer, allowing water to be used efficiently and conservatively. Research will be conducted on a farm consisting of 250 acres raising fish and crops using the same recirculating water system.

Progress powered by Kansas farmers.
