Apple Glazed Tart

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 12 Tablespoons margarine, cold, sliced
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 apples
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 Tablespoons margarine, melted
  • 1/4 cup apple jelly
  • 1 Tablespoon apple juice or cider

Directions:

  1. To make the pastry, combine the flour, 1 Tablespoon granulated sugar and salt in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add 12 Tablespoons margarine and cut-in with pastry blender.
  3. Add cold water and mix to form dough.
  4. Knead on lightly floured board and wrap in plastic wrap; refrigerate an hour.
  5. Line a quarter sheet pan (9 1/2 x 13-inch) with parchment paper.
  6. On a lightly floured board roll the dough slightly larger than the pan and fit on the prepared pan.
  7. Slice apples into 1/4-inch thick slices.
  8. Place slices overlapping in rows on the dough to completely cover the dough.
  9. Sprinkle with the 1/2 cup granulated sugar and drizzle with the margarine.
  10. Bake at 400 degrees for 45 to 60 minutes until pastry is browns and the edges of the apples start to brown.
  11. Heat apple jelly and apple juice in microwave for 30 seconds and stie to combine; use pastry brush to cover apples.
