Commissioners set sights on new fiscal year for July meeting

June 25, 2021 – The Kansas Soybean Commission is scheduled to meet July 26 for its Annual Meeting in Topeka, Kansas. The agenda includes items such as hearing reports from state and national organizational affiliates and electing a new team of officers.

The Annual Meeting provides an opportunity for Commissioners to welcome the new fiscal year, which begins July 1, and review investments for the year. High-level soybean prices in the past year have created record collections for the soybean checkoff.

Commission Chairman Bob Haselwood, Berryton, says, “As we start the new fiscal year with more revenue, the Commission can consider even more innovative ways to invest farmers’ checkoff dollars and improve the bottom line for Kansas soybean farmers.”

A total of 47 project funding proposals were approved in December 2020 to begin in the coming fiscal year. Commissioners are also scheduled to review additional funding requests for the 2022 fiscal year at the July meeting, including a request to support the Soybean Research Information Network and others.
