Kansas Farmers Host Luncheon, Discuss Policy Priorities

Each year, farmer-leaders on the Kansas Soybean Association board host legislators and staff for a lunch at the Capitol in Topeka. Over 200 individuals came through the line and talked about water issues, biodiesel production incentives, label regulations and more with the four board members hailing from Doniphan, Jefferson, Labette and Osage County, respectively.

“This event is a great opportunity for us as farmer-leaders to talk one-on-one with elected officials about the challenges we are facing and how legislation impacts Kansans,” Brett Neibling, KSA President says, “Relationships are important as our organization advocates on behalf of farmers across the state.”

In January, KSA members voted on the 2026 policy priorities at the annual meeting. Intentionally having this luncheon after that meeting allows board members to focus on sharing what Kansas farmers are concerned about for the year.

This year, KSA collaborated with the Kansas Association of Conservation Districts to have the Legislative Luncheon on the same day as their Conservation Day at the Capitol event.

“It is critically important for agriculture to work alongside each other, no matter the sector, as we can leverage resources and have a stronger voice when advocating on issues that will impact Kansas farmers,” Kaleb Little, KSA CEO says.
